What is DreamSpark?
DreamSpark is a programme the University subscribes to that has two primary goals:
- To make it easier and less expensive for you to obtain Microsoft developer tools, platforms, and servers for instructional and research purposes.
- To build a community of instructors who can share curriculum and other learning resources to support the use of these technologies.
DreamSpark Premium is designed to address the needs of academic departments teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
In addition to DreamSpark Premium, the DreamSpark programme provides access to a subset of applications to support teaching and research in non-STEM disciplines.
Microsoft Azure is available to DreamSpark students at no cost and with no credit card required. This offer includes Azure cloud services such as MySQL, Web Apps, and more so you can start coding your online projects in the cloud right away.
This Azure offer is exclusively available to students who have created an account at DreamSpark.com. To activate this offer:

We hope you enjoy these new opportunities. Microsoft DreamSpark gives you the software and resources to learn, and get a head start in school or in your future career.
Getting Access to Software
Access to DreamSpark software is provided using ELMS (e-academy License Management System). You will be required to login to the system which will use your username to determine which DreamSpark programme you are eligible to access.
The University agreement allows access to the programme to academic staff and students. Generally, non-academic staff will not be eligible.
Important Note: Licence codes obtained via ELMS are for personal use - installation onto multiple computers (e.g. a lab of computers) will require either a Key Management Server key (KMS) or Multiple Activation Key (MAK) - please contact your local C&IT Team via the Service Desk who will be able to enter these on each machine. We are not permitted to distribute the key directly to end users, so you will need to contact the C&IT Team!
Only a limited number of Microsoft products are available under the DreamSpark programme, and once you have logged on and continued to ELMS/DreamSpark, you will be presented with a list of products which you are eligible to obtain.
